Want to try toner foiling but don’t know which colours or materials to choose? The Once Upon A Foil Starter Kit brings together five colourful A4 toner foil sheets, smooth white cardstock and a ready-printed practice sheet, so you can get to know the process before printing your own designs.

What’s included?

• 5 × A4 toner reactive foil sheets — one of each finish listed below.
• 5 × blank A4 Foiled You Once Smooth White Cardstock sheets — 300gsm.
• 1 × A4 toner-printed practice sheet on the same white cardstock, ready for you to foil.
• A printed quick-start instruction leaflet to guide you through the basics.

Your five foil colours

• Magic Carpet — rainbow glitter.
• Fairy Dust — gold glitter.
• Sleeping Rose — rose pink metallic.
• Evil Queen — rich purple.
• Magic Lamp — gold holographic.

A fixed selection to help you explore different colours and finishes. This kit contains A4 foil sheets, not rolls. Cut each sheet into smaller pieces to cover your designs and keep unused sections for another make.

Smooth white cardstock, selected for foiling

The included Foiled You Once Smooth White Cardstock is A4 and 300gsm. I’ve tested this cardstock with my own toner-foiling setup. Its white background gives you a simple starting point for handmade cards, invitations, gift tags, prints and small-business stationery.

Check your printer’s supported paper weights before printing your own designs: not every laser printer supports 300gsm cardstock. Results depend on your toner, machine, material and settings.

How to use your kit

1. Start with the supplied toner-printed practice sheet.
2. Cut a piece of foil slightly larger than the design and place it coloured side up, with the transfer side towards the toner.
3. Process it in your compatible heated foiling machine using the protection and settings recommended for your equipment.
4. Allow it to cool as instructed, then peel back gently for your reveal.

What else do you need?

A compatible toner-foiling machine or suitable heated laminator is required and is not included. Use any carrier folder or protective sheets specified by your machine; these are not included.

The practice sheet is already toner printed. To make your own designs on the blank cardstock, you’ll need a compatible toner-based laser printer that supports the material, or access to a suitable toner-printing service. Ordinary inkjet ink alone does not work with this toner-foiling process.

This foil is intended for toner foiling. It is not adhesive vinyl, pressure-activated Cricut foil or hot-stamping foil.
